About The Position

This is a Graduate Assistant position (0000GA11) within the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Excellence at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The position is part-time (50% Full Time Equivalency), temporary, and offers a monthly salary of $2,627 ($31,524 annually) for 20 hours per week. The appointment is for 11 months, with renewal dependent on satisfactory performance, program needs, funding availability, and meeting assistantship eligibility requirements. The position is expected to begin around August 2026 or as soon as possible.

Requirements

  • Classified, full-time (minimum of 6 credits) graduate student in good academic standing (GPA of 3.0 or above) in any field.
  • Conduct academic research and develop literature reviews.
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • Complete assigned tasks with a high degree of attention to detail, accuracy and quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan and organize tasks.
  • Able to work independently, take initiative as appropriate, and reliably contribute to the team.
  • Proficiency in office productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and professional work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in project coordination, management and or event planning.
  • Experience updating websites.
  • Prior experience in higher education administration or academic support roles.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct graduate-level research and writing, including policy briefs, report writing, and white papers on academic policies, procedures, and effective practices.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data using thematic approaches and statistical methods to create tables, figures, and other data visualizations.
  • Create, update, and maintain materials for presentations, events, newsletters, and websites.
  • Manage and maintain accurate course and program records, including database management and data entry.
  • Communicate with academic departments, students, and external stakeholders.
  • Provide administrative support for academic initiatives, such as academic course and program actions, commencement, new faculty orientation (Ho‘olauna program), and faculty and department leadership training events.
  • Coordinate and provide logistical and technical support.
  • Update the OVPAE website.
  • Perform other duties as required.
