About The Position

This is a temporary, part-time (50% Full Time Equivalency) Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) position at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, Anuenue Center/Pilina Support Team (PST). The appointment is for 11 months, with the possibility of renewal based on performance, program needs, funding availability, and eligibility. The GRA will research the effectiveness of PST programs and outreach efforts, create an annual report, and provide support to the PST team. This includes attending meetings, taking minutes, managing shared drives, disseminating information, supporting online and in-person events with technical assistance and note-taking, developing assessment tools, and assisting with communication efforts in partnership with the UH Communications Office.

Requirements

  • Acceptance or enrollment in a Masters or Doctoral program at the UH Manoa campus in good academic standing.
  • If currently enrolled, maintain a 3.0 GPA or above and making appropriate progress toward degree.
  • Pursuing a degree in Educational Administration, Public Administration, Communication, Urban and Regional Planning, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage several tasks.
  • Ability to facilitate online meetings including breakout rooms, chat discussions, and the Q&A features in Zoom and Google.
  • Understanding of Title IX, and campus climate initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Applicant must submit the Names and contact information (telephone number and email addresses) of at least three (3) professional references.
  • Applicant must submit Copies of official transcripts indicating degree conferred date with confidential information (i.e. social security number, date of birth) redacted. However, original official transcripts are required upon hire.
  • Transcripts issued outside the United States of America require a course-by-course analysis with an equivalency statement from an agency having membership with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc., verifying the degree equivalency to that of an accredited institution within the USA.
  • Applicant must submit Certificate of Completion of UHM Title IX Training for students.

Responsibilities

  • Research the effectiveness of Pilina Support Team (PST) programs and outreach efforts in creating a sense of belonging at UH Manoa and create an annual report of findings.
  • Provide support to the PST by attending meetings, taking meeting minutes, supporting the chair with follow-up tasks, update folders in the committee’s shared drive, disseminating meeting notices, minutes and other materials.
  • Support PST online events and in-person (as determined) by providing online tech support, assisting with registration with email reminders and announcements, taking notes during events, creating follow-up materials from events to share with campus population.
  • Develop assessment tools and a data collection plan.
  • Assist PST communication efforts in partnership with the UH Communications Office to include, but not limited to creating social media content, assisting with PST website.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
