About The Position

The Professional Writing Office (PWO) at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is seeking enthusiastic individuals to serve as Writing Consultants. This role involves tutoring both graduate and undergraduate students in business writing and communication assignments, requiring strong critical thinking, adaptability in communication style, and excellent interpersonal skills. Consultants will assist students with various business writing formats, general mechanics, and grammar. The position also includes administrative tasks and promotional activities to increase office visibility. CSUSB is a diverse, Hispanic-serving institution committed to equity and inclusion.

  • Junior-level standing with a GPA of 3.5 or higher in English/writing courses.
  • Willingness to perform general office tasks and promotions.
  • Must have transportation to campus to work 50% of shift or more in-person.
  • Exceptional writing and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be of junior standing.
  • Must have passed MGMT 3500 (or equivalent) with a "B+" or better.
  • Must have a GPA of 3.5 or better.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Management 3500 with a B+ or better.
  • Promotion and social media aptitude.
  • Desire to maintain the office's social media presence.
  • Spanish speaker.

Responsibilities

  • Tutoring graduate and undergraduate students in business writing and communications assignments.
  • Assisting students with various business writing formats, general mechanics, and grammar.
  • Adapting communication style, tone, and audience seamlessly to meet diverse student needs.
  • Managing time effectively without losing focus or being distracted.
  • Completing administrative tasks such as generating reports for faculty and creating flyers.
  • Assisting in campus events and general maintenance of PWO functions as directed by the Director.
  • Performing general office tasks and promotions to attract new students to the office.
