About The Position

The Graduate Assistant - Women's Wrestling position is designed to assist the Head Coach in various aspects of the program, including recruiting, organizing and running practices, fundraising, promotional activities, and other assigned responsibilities. The successful candidate will serve as a positive role model for student-athletes, demonstrating strong leadership and fostering leadership development within the team. Responsibilities also include monitoring and assisting student-athletes with academic success and effectively recruiting quality student-athletes. This role requires a commitment to Lakeland University's mission and values, emphasizing collaboration, honesty, and respect. The position description is not exhaustive and duties may change over time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and acceptance into the Lakeland University graduate school program.
  • Experience in the sport of wrestling.
  • Acceptable driving record.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations governing recruitment, eligibility and related functions.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and priorities.
  • Ability to prioritize office workflow and make effective administrative decisions to increase efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Demonstrated ability to tactfully and effectively communicate (written and verbal) with a variety of individuals.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) or similar products.
  • Demonstrates organizational ability, and attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to work evenings or weekends as needed.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach, primarily with recruiting, organizing and running practices, fundraising, promotional activities, and other related assigned responsibilities.
  • Serve as a positive role model to student-athletes on and off the mat.
  • Exhibit strong leadership and strive to develop leadership capabilities within student-athletes.
  • Monitor and assist student-athletes with academic success.
  • Effectively recruit quality student-athletes.
  • Assist the head coach with any/all aspects of the program.
