About The Position

This is a graduate assistant position responsible for assisting with University Advancement development, church relations and alumni initiatives & support activities. Ottawa University, established in 1865, is one of the oldest private liberal arts universities in the United States, with multiple campuses and an online program. The university strives to integrate faith, learning, and life in the academic experiences of students.

Requirements

  • Must be accepted and enrolled in an Ottawa University graduate program.
  • Submission of official undergraduate transcripts (3.0 GPA – minimum requirement) earned bachelor’s degree.
  • Submission of a personal statement regarding career goals and three professional references.
  • Other items as identified by the specific academic program.
  • A completed employment application is required.
  • Candidates should attach cover letter and resume.
  • All Graduate Assistants must be eligible to work in the United States and present the proper documentation to the Human Resources Department prior to beginning their graduate assistantship.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point); and other office automation tools
  • Knowledge of social media outlets and how to successfully utilize this technology

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning & implementation of development (fundraising) projects including but not limited to the OU Forever More Campaign, OU Braves Classic golf tournament and Donor Appreciation Days.
  • Assist with alumni programs including but not limited to the Alumni Association, Braves Hall of Fame, class reunions, and off-site alumni gatherings.
  • Assist with event planning for Homecoming weekend and other events as assigned.
  • Assist with advancement services reporting as requested.
  • Assist with Fredrikson Center programming and work with University Chaplain on barrier reduction support and other duties as requested.
  • Assist with marketing and social media strategy and implementation for advancement programming accounts.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality with regard to records.
  • Other duties as assigned.
