About The Position

The Grade 5 Girls' Basketball Coach develops and implements an exemplary athletic program that provides quality education and growth opportunities for every student-athlete. The role is based at Harper Elementary for the 2026–27 season and pays $1,063. The coach is expected to support student-athletes’ athletic, academic, and personal growth through effective instruction, planning, positive relationships, and a safe environment.

Requirements

Prior coaching experience is preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of the sport or area being coached.
Proficiency in standard English, both spoken and written.

Comply with school and school board policies and regulations.
Work cooperatively with staff and relate positively to parents and community representatives.

Set clearly defined standards for behavior and academic performance.
Apply knowledge of basketball to provide effective instruction and guidance.
Adapt instruction in strategy and fundamentals to student-athletes’ individual needs, abilities, and interests.
Develop and maintain an organized athletic program with structured long-term planning.
Use appropriate strategies and resources to support student-athlete development.
Explain coaching expectations and their importance to personal, athletic, and academic growth.
Use varied coaching techniques and learning activities.
Monitor student progress and inform appropriate people.
