About The Position

The Assistant Girls' Basketball Coach develops and implements an exemplary athletic program that provides high-quality education and growth opportunities for every student-athlete. The position is at Harrison High School for the 2026–27 season. The coach is expected to support student-athlete development through effective instruction, planning, positive relationships, and a safe, orderly environment.

Requirements

Prior coaching experience is preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of the sport or area being coached.
Proficiency in standard English, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

Comply with all school and school board policies and regulations.
Work cooperatively with the entire staff and relate positively to parents and community representatives.
Demonstrate professional growth and proficiency in spoken and written standard English.
Complete required records and reports accurately and on time.
Fulfill responsibilities beyond the team setting as they relate to school expectations.
Care for materials, equipment, and facilities and maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment for student-athletes.
Foster positive interactions among student-athletes and build supportive relationships with the school and community.
Promote student self-direction and motivation, and establish clear expectations for behavior and academic performance.
Use knowledge of basketball to provide effective instruction and guidance.
Adapt instruction in strategy and fundamentals to the individual needs, abilities, and interests of student-athletes.
Develop and maintain an organized athletic program supported by structured long-term planning.
Use appropriate strategies and resources to support student-athlete development.
Communicate coaching expectations and explain their significance for personal, athletic, and academic growth.
Use varied coaching techniques and learning activities.
Monitor student progress and communicate with appropriate individuals.
