About The Position

The Head 7th Grade Girls Basketball Coach works with the basketball program’s coaches to plan and supervise practices, communicate with students and families, and support the athletic program at Watervliet Public School. The coach is expected to follow applicable MHSAA and WPS rules and comply with injury and player safety protocols. A completed online application is required.

Requirements

Sport-specific participation.
CPR/AED certification is required or must be obtained upon hire.
Work effectively with athletes and middle-school-age students.
Speak clearly and audibly to varied groups and express ideas logically and forthrightly.
Analyze situations quickly and provide prompt advice.
Respond to information requests courteously, helpfully, and in a timely manner.
Work constructively and cooperatively with others.
Ability to travel as needed.
A completed online application is required.

Nice To Haves

Coaching experience preferred.
CAP Level 1 completion preferred.

Responsibilities

Work alongside all coaches in the basketball program.
Create engaging practice plans that align with the program’s vision.
Enforce all MHSAA and WPS rules.
Communicate appropriately and in a timely manner with students, parents, the athletic director, and other coaches.
Maintain an accurate team roster at all times.
Supervise practice sessions and maintain locker-room security.
Follow injury and player safety protocols.
Support the entire Watervliet Public School athletic program.
Attend all coaches’ meetings.
Assist with scouting for the varsity team if necessary.
