About The Position

This is a long-term substitute position for a Grade 4 Teacher at Dolbeare Elementary School, covering the period from September to November. The role involves teaching the district-approved curriculum, developing lesson plans, and providing individualized and small group instruction to meet the needs of each student. The teacher will also be responsible for translating lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences, communicating with parents regularly, establishing and maintaining classroom behavior standards, evaluating student growth, and developing strategies for individual education plans.

Requirements

• College Degree
• Current Massachusetts License in appropriate area

Responsibilities

• Teaches district approved curriculum
• Develops lesson plans and instructional material
• Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil
• Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences
• Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere
• Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports
• Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans
