About The Position

The Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention works to prevent and reduce the impact of chronic diseases and disabling conditions by addressing associated modifiable risk factors. Chronic diseases including heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, and asthma are among the most common, costly, and preventable of all health problems in Florida and in the U.S. The bureau develops, implements, and evaluates health promotion activities, primary and secondary prevention services, and community-based health interventions across the state. The bureau partners with state and local agencies, health systems, and community partners to encourage best practices statewide. The bureau supports community and state-level partnerships, ensuring coordination and collaboration among and between stakeholders and providers to stimulate prevention and intervention activities to reduce the morbidity and mortality due to chronic diseases and support efficient and effective delivery of health care. This is a professional position in the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention. This position is responsible for administrative oversight of the processing of contract actions for assigned program areas such as the Epilepsy Service Program. This includes reviewing contracts and providing technical assistance in the development of training materials.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of public health care system, quality management practices, and chronic disease prevention and control.
  • Knowledge of public health programs, management principles, policies, laws, functions, and practices.
  • Ability to develop and write policy, rules, protocols, procedures, manuals, guidelines, grants, and reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and establish effective working relationships with a wide variety of groups.
  • Ability to develop educational materials, and plan and conduct trainings.
  • Utilizes computer or microcomputer to prepare correspondence, reports, and other work.
  • Other duties as requested.
  • Experince in budget, contract, and grant management.
  • Must be willing to physically come in office to perform the duties & responsibilities of the positions

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of three years of contract management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance to contract managers, program staff, and contract provider staff in the development, negotiation, and management of assigned contracts. Also provides technical assistance to contract managers and providers in resolving any invoicing and payment issues.
  • Reviews all contract documentation for completion, errors, and adherence to current statutes, policies, and departmental and division guidance.
  • Maintains contract files and ensures inclusion of all required documents.
  • Assists program fiscal staff on tracking contract expenditures. Prepares spreadsheets monthly showing contract expenditures.
  • Assists with providing reminders and support to help contract managers and their supervisors complete programmatic monitoring and supervisor attestations.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required by bureau program activities.
