About The Position

This position is seeking a qualified applicant who can review background screening reports received from the State’s Background Screening Clearinghouse for healthcare practitioner applicants, licensees, and facility owners as authorized in F.S. 456.0135. The role is within the Division of Medical Quality Assurance, Bureau of Operations, Background Screening Unit. This is an OPS (Other Personnel Services) Government Analyst I position. The department emphasizes that all fields in the Candidate Profile must be completed, and work history, duties, hours, supervisor, and education must be filled out to determine qualifications. Responses to qualifying questions must be supported by employment history. Current authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship is required, as the Department of Health cannot provide visa sponsorship. The use of AI tools to assist with qualifying questions, work samples, or interviews is strictly prohibited and will lead to disqualification. The position is in-office with no remote work provision and offers full-time and part-time opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews background screening reports received from the State’s Background Screening Clearinghouse for health care practitioner applicants, licensees, and facility owners as authorized in s. 456.0135, Florida Statutes and profession specific statutes, to determine eligibility for initial license.
  • Assist with answering phone calls and providing information to applicants/licensees, replying to general emails, document intake and processing, handling communications and documents received via fax, and processing mail.
  • Record necessary data about the screening results in the division’s licensing and enforcement information database system (LEIDS).
  • Coordinates electronic request for background history information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation or the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
  • Research licensing and enforcement information database system (LEIDS) to determine if a complaint to the Bureau of Enforcement is needed based on background screening information received on a licensed health care practitioner.
  • Consults with the above organizations to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations relating to background screening health care practitioners.
  • Perform other related work as required.
