About The Position

This position is seeking a qualified applicant who can review background screening reports received from the State’s Background Screening Clearinghouse for healthcare practitioner applicants, licensees, and facility owners as authorized in F.S. 456.0135. This is an OPS position with full-time and part-time opportunities and is an in-office position with no provision for remote work. The role requires the ability to manage periodic interruptions, perform duties within a confined workspace, and remain seated at a computer workstation for extended periods. Must be willing to physically come in the office to perform the duties & responsibilities of the position. Incumbents may be required to perform emergency duty before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days. All Florida Department of Health positions require the incumbent to be able to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews background screening reports received from the State’s Background Screening Clearinghouse (Clearinghouse) for health care practitioner applicants, licensees, and facility owners as authorized in s. 456.0135, Florida Statutes and profession specific statutes, to determine eligibility for initial license.
  • Assist with answering phone calls and providing information to applicants/licensees, replying to general emails, document intake and processing, handling communications and documents received via fax, and processing mail.
  • Record necessary data about the screening results in the division’s licensing and enforcement information database system (LEIDS).
  • Coordinates electronic request for background history information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation or the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
  • Research licensing and enforcement information database system (LEIDS) to determine if a complaint to the Bureau of Enforcement is needed based on background screening information received on a licensed health care practitioner.
  • Consults with the above organizations to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations relating to background screening health care practitioners.
  • Perform other related work as required.
