KCRW’s Good Food seeks to foster future food writers, curators and creators through a thirteen-month fellowship. The program will facilitate an exchange of ideas, perspectives, and experiences through original, bold reporting and audience engagement. An important outcome for the program is to provide our audiences with thoughtful coverage that is more than recipes and restaurant reviews – we use food as a lens to explore culture, science, economics, history, and community. The Fellow will be empowered to incorporate their interests, experiences and perspectives into their project. Creative work may include innovators and entrepreneurs within the food space, coverage of the diverse communities that shape the Southern California food scene, agricultural sustainability and farming, food politics and policy and broader food culture. The Good Food Fellow will report to the Senior Director of Good Food. The fellowship is designed as a full-time program over a duration of thirteen months. Professional development and mentoring in audio production, storytelling, digital content creation and journalism with hands-on experience will be cornerstones of the fellowship, as the Fellow works with KCRW’s award-winning news and culture team.
