The Molecular Cardiology Research Institute at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, invites post-doctoral applications for a position to study arterial and vascular function during ischemic injury in the laboratory of Dr. Miranda Good. The overall objective of the Good Lab is to understand the mechanisms that regulate blood vessel function and inflammation during disease states, such as ischemic stroke and Alzheimer Disease. The lab focuses on evaluating the role and regulation of Pannexin 1, a potential novel therapeutic target, within arterial and venous endothelial cells and how it contributes to the etiology of ischemic injuries and vascular-mediated progression of Alzheimer Disease. A highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow is sought, ideally with prior experience in cardiovascular or neurovascular physiology. The laboratory uses state of the art molecular and cellular biology assays, ex vivo vascular function studies, and state-of-the-art mouse models of vascular injury and ischemic injuries to address clinically relevant questions in vascular biology and physiology. Prior experience in pressure myography on resistance arteries and/or survival surgeries in mice or rats is preferred, but not required. The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal Investigator on research projects studying the vascular mechanisms contributing to detrimental outcomes following an ischemia/reperfusion injury, Alzheimer Disease, or hypertension. As needed, the individual will be required to independently develop protocols and establish new methodologies in the laboratory. The applicant would be intimately involved in writing and presenting new discoveries. The Molecular Cardiology Research Institute (MCRI) is an internationally known institute with several principal investigators studying diverse topics of molecular medicine. The fellow will work closely with the principal investigator, her lab, and other members of this dynamic research institute. This role focuses on performing work related to research and development of new products, innovation, and improvement of products and processes.
