This postdoc will work on 3D bioprinting of developing human heart models to study various congenital heart disease, including the hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). The postdoc will differentiate human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) into cardiomyocytes, endothelial, and endocardial cells and incorporate these cells into the 3D bioprinting workflow to create functional human heart analogues. These 3D bioengineered models will be cultured in the dynamic flow conditions in the lab for several weeks and cellular response to various pharmacological factors will be examined. Results from this work may identify new therapeutic and / or interventional procedures to treat patients with HLHS or similar congenital heart disease.
