About The Position

The Golf Shop Salesperson serves members and guests in the golf shop and plays an influential role in generating retail sales for the club. The position focuses on conscientiously meeting members’ and guests’ needs so their golf experience runs as smoothly and enjoyably as possible. The salesperson assists PGA TOUR players, members, and guests with their golfing needs, provides courteous customer service, communicates product information, and maintains the golf shop’s cleanliness, displays, and inventory presentation. Shifts are scheduled as necessary based on business levels. The position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, and travel is not expected.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Thorough knowledge of general business practices and retail sales practices and procedures, as would be acquired through one to two years of similar experience.
• Previous customer experience required.
• Ability to regularly stand, walk, sit, kneel, use hands to handle or feel, and talk or hear.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to comply with applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations applicable to the job.

Responsibilities

• Assist PGA TOUR players, members, and guests with their golfing needs and help ensure their golf experience at the club is smooth and enjoyable.
• Greet and welcome members and guests professionally and courteously.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with members, guests, and fellow staff members.
• Answer customer questions and provide assistance and information.
• Assist with daily cleaning of the golf shop, storage areas, and merchandise displays.
• Communicate product information professionally, sell merchandise, and become knowledgeable about products and sales techniques.
• Anticipate members’ and guests’ needs and offer appropriate merchandise alternatives.
• Maintain displays at par stock inventory levels and ensure their appearance meets or exceeds PGA TOUR Golf Course Properties, Inc. standards.
• Perform special projects or other duties as assigned.
