Golf Shop Assistant
About The Position
The Golf Shop Assistant provides customer service and telephone support for the Gold and Emerald Golf Pro Shops, and serves as an information resource for guests and customers at the Wailea resort. The role reserves tee times for the Gold, Emerald, and affiliate Blue golf courses, schedules golf lessons for PGA professionals, responds to fax requests, and may help facilitate group bookings. It also provides reservation and pricing alternatives to prospective customers. The position collects fees for golf play, rentals, lessons, and merchandise; assists with daily checkout, transaction balancing and closing, deposits, and sales and cash reports; and sells merchandise. Additional duties include maintaining merchandise displays and shop cleanliness, following safety and house rules, and assisting with periodic inventories. The position is directly supervised by the Golf Shop Supervisor and may also receive direction from other listed golf, guest-service, and management staff.
Requirements
- Patience and excellent customer-service skills for work involving extensive public contact.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and telephone sales skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good to excellent vision, depth perception, a wide field of vision, and color vision.
- Ability to perform the stated physical and environmental duties, including sitting and standing, and occasionally climbing stairs and lifting or carrying 0–25 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and POS/Tee Sheets.
- Knowledge of golf.
- Previous experience in retail, reservations bookings, and/or a hotel or resort.
Responsibilities
- Greet arriving and departing golfers in a friendly, courteous, and polite manner.
- Answer incoming calls on the Golf Shop public line using courteous telephone techniques and etiquette.
- Reserve future tee times for the Gold, Emerald, and affiliate Blue golf courses and enter reservations into the computer system.
- Schedule golf lessons for PGA professionals.
- Provide guests and customers with premium customer service in accordance with the company’s customer-service standards.
- Receive and respond to fax requests for individual and group tee times and assist with group bookings as needed.
- Act as an information center for both Golf Pro Shops and the Wailea resort.
- Offer prospective customers reservation and pricing alternatives to address concerns and retain bookings.
- Collect fees for green fees, carts, club rental and repair, shoe rental, club storage, driving range, lessons, and merchandise.
- Perform or assist with daily checkout, transaction balancing and closing, preparation and deposit of receipts, and daily sales and cash reports.
- Service and sell hard-goods and soft-goods merchandise.
- Perform general housekeeping and help maintain merchandise displays.
- Follow house rules and safety regulations, use safe practices, and maintain good housekeeping in work areas.
- Assist with periodic physical inventories.
- Perform other Pro Shop, merchandising, retail sales, or assigned duties as required.
