About The Position

Kaweah Health is a publicly owned, community healthcare organization that provides comprehensive health services to the greater Visalia area in central California. With more than 5,000 employees, Kaweah Health provides state-of-the-art medicine and high-quality preventive services in our acute care hospital, specialized health centers and clinics. Our eight-campus healthcare district has 613 beds and offers comprehensive health services across a broad continuum of care. Resident physicians participate in educational and training activities at Kaweah Health as part of an ACGME-approved residency program. This role involves providing competent, compassionate patient care, working effectively as a member of the healthcare team, and carrying out administrative responsibilities in a timely manner. Residents are expected to meet the educational goals of their program, adhere to duty hour regulations, attend required conferences, and provide feedback on their educational experience. Additionally, residents will teach and mentor junior residents and medical students, act with integrity, manage conflict effectively, develop lifelong learning skills, and participate in committees as assigned. The role requires knowledge and skills appropriate to the population served, including cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age-specific needs, and the ability to effectively communicate and care for patients and families.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a medical school recognized by the California Medical Board.
  • Successfully match with KH through the National Residency Match Program (NRMP).

Responsibilities

  • Provides competent, compassionate patient care.
  • Works effectively as a member of the health care team.
  • Carries out administrative responsibilities, such as dictation of discharge summaries, in a timely manner.
  • Meets the educational goals of his or her specific program.
  • Adheres to the assigned schedule and must stay in compliance with ACGME duty hours.
  • Attends all required educational conferences and participate in the planning of conferences per each program's requirements.
  • Provides data on their educational experience to their program director.
  • Provides evaluations of their teachers and service rotations in a timely manner.
  • Teaches and mentors junior resident and medical students.
  • Consistently acts with integrity and honesty.
  • Functions as an effective team member.
  • Effectively manages conflict.
  • Develops life-long learning skills.
  • Participates in medical center and departmental committees as assigned.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.
  • Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs.
  • Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
