About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring the quality of products on the packing line, adhering to customer specifications and company standards. The inspector will monitor operations, identify defects, and communicate issues to relevant personnel. This position requires attention to detail, understanding of quality control procedures, and the ability to work effectively within a team, particularly during the 3rd shift (8:30 pm - 6:30 am). Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret orders.

  • Fully trained on all quality control and scale operations.
  • Ability to direct Gluer Level I during setup and run operations.
  • Ability to examine and inspect boxes and products.
  • Ability to regulate the efficient order of jobs.
  • Ability to monitor and review information to detect and assess problems.
  • Ability to perform monthly inventory.
  • Ability to monitor quality performance of other workers.
  • Ability to inspect cards for errors, mistakes, or defects.
  • Ability to address problems with appropriate personnel.
  • Ability to inspect carton labels.
  • Ability to ensure correct card placement, quantity/weight accuracy, correct skid placement, and timely shipping.
  • Ability to select random samples for inspection.
  • Ability to scan for obvious flaws.
  • Ability to notify supervisors of deviations, malfunctions, or maintenance needs.
  • Ability to calculate waste and line clearance.
  • Ability to reconcile final inspection documentation.
  • Ability to work with Gluer Operator, Gluer I, and material handler during down time.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret orders to understand customer specifications.
  • Observe feeding and folding of material and gluing edges, informing the gluer operator of any issues.
  • Demonstrate and explain how to correctly enter and edit job order details into OMS.
  • Familiarize oneself with the items being packed.
  • Identify defects in the product.
  • Perform all quality control and scale operations.
  • During 'Setup' Operation: Direct Gluer Level I to de-stage the last job and stage the next job.
  • During 'Run' Operation: Direct Gluer Level I to check for correct card, count, carton, side, direction, and quality.
  • Examine and inspect boxes and products to ensure packing specifications are met.
  • Regulate the efficient order of jobs for timely completion.
  • Monitor and review information to detect and assess problems.
  • Perform monthly inventory to count and align the amount of boxes used.
  • Monitor the quality performance of other workers on the packing line.
  • Inspect cards for errors, mistakes, or defects.
  • Address detected problems with the Gluer Operator II/III, Finishing Lead, or Quality Control Department.
  • Inspect carton labels for proper count, shipping information, and sample cards.
  • Ensure packers are placing the correct cards in the correct box, quantity/weight is accurate, boxes are on the right skid, and boxes are shipped on time.
  • Select random samples for inspection from various sections of the carton or pallet.
  • Scan for obvious flaws such as streaks, mis-register, and color variations.
  • Notify supervisors or specified personnel of deviations from specifications, machine malfunctions, or the need for machine maintenance.
  • Calculate the amount of waste (overs) and line clearance.
  • Reconcile final inspection documentation for shipments.
  • During 'down time', work with the Gluer Operator, Gluer I, and material handler to ensure product movement and area staging.
  • Assist with routine maintenance tasks of cleaning the quality control station.
  • When needed, assist with the duties of packers on the line to ensure they maintain quality.
  • Complete daily end-of-shift duties as assigned.
  • Use a power lift and checklist.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and motivation on packing jobs.
  • Understand line stop procedures.
  • Understand all folder/gluer line metrics and goals.
  • Demonstrate and explain KPI's and safety metrics, and lead White Board Sessions.
