About The Position

This role involves observing the feeding and folding of material and gluing edges, and communicating any issues to the gluer operator. The Gluer Packer works with the Gluer Operator to monitor product feeding into the gluer machinery and ensures correct jobs are staged. The position requires teamwork, motivation, and the ability to match collating marks and pack cards consistently in the same direction. Understanding line stop procedures and demonstrating consistent speed improvement are key. The role also includes familiarizing oneself with items being packed, organizing and sorting products, and assisting with setup and run operations. This includes staging jobs, checking for correct card, count, carton, side, direction, and quality. The Gluer Packer assists with routine maintenance, cleaning, and lubricating the glue machinery. They also support other packers on the line to maintain pace and quality, and assist with moving product and staging the area during downtime. Observing machine adjustments and understanding line metrics and goals are important. The role requires completing end-of-shift duties and the ability to transition to working independently as a packer. Use of required safety PPE, including steel toe shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection, is mandatory. Other tasks may be assigned.

  • Familiarizes self with the items being packed.
  • Ability to transition as an individual packer without relying on a trainer.
  • Correctly uses required safety PPE: steel toe shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection.

Responsibilities

  • Observe feeding and folding of material and gluing edges and inform gluer operator of any issues.
  • Work with the Gluer Operator to monitor the feeding of product into the gluer machinery.
  • Coordinate with the Gluer Operator to ensure correct jobs are staged at the front of the machine.
  • Match all collating marks that are being packed and pack all cards in the same direction.
  • Understand the line stop procedures.
  • Show consistent improvement on speed and be able to keep up with the line.
  • Familiarize self with the items being packed.
  • Organize and sort products according to size, color, or other specifications.
  • During ‘Setup’ Operation: Take direction from Gluer Operator and Gluer Level II to de-stage last job and stage the next job.
  • During ‘Run’ Operation: Take direction from Gluer Operator to check for correct card, count, carton, side, direction and quality.
  • Assist with the routine maintenance tasks of cleaning and lubricating the glue machinery with the gluer operator.
  • When needed, assist the duties of the packers on the line to ensure they are keeping up and paying close attention to the quality of the products.
  • During any “down time” ensure product is moved and area is staged.
  • Observe when the Gluer Operator makes adjustments to the machine components.
  • Understand all folder/gluer line metrics and goals.
  • Complete daily end of shift duties as assigned.
  • Transition as an individual packer without relying on a trainer.
  • Correctly use required safety PPE: steel toe shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
