About The Position

SpaceX is seeking a Global Supply Manager to own end-to-end sourcing strategy, supplier management, and delivery of datacenter cooling equipment and supporting systems for its hyperscale AI clusters. The scope includes mechanical cooling infrastructure such as dry coolers, chillers, pumps, and CDUs; auxiliary piping and valves; controls and instrumentation; and chemicals and consumables. The role partners with engineering, thermal systems, and facility teams to define commodity strategies, multi-year roadmaps, approved vendor lists, and supply plans that meet SpaceX’s deployment pace and cooling requirements. The manager will lead global sourcing, supplier qualification and performance, commercial negotiations, predictive supply chain planning, cost leadership, supplier innovation, and procurement process improvements. The position also champions sustainability and supply chain ethics, including responsible sourcing, supplier carbon reduction, low-GWP cooling technologies, water optimization, and circular-economy practices. It is based onsite in Bastrop or Austin, Texas, and requires domestic and international travel as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of experience in business, supply chain, engineering, or energy; alternatively, at least 10 years of experience in one or more of those fields.
  • At least 5 years of experience in global supply chain, procurement, or commodity management focused on cooling systems, HVAC, mechanical infrastructure, or industrial fluid systems.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed to support supplier factories, equipment testing, and critical projects at SpaceX data centers.
  • Ability to work onsite in Bastrop, TX, or Austin, TX.
  • Ability to meet ITAR requirements: U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep technical understanding of datacenter cooling technologies, including dry coolers, chillers, CDUs, pumps, piping and valve systems, controls and instrumentation, chemical consumables, and liquid cooling architectures.
  • Track record managing sourcing for capital cooling equipment and supporting components or consumables in hyperscale, datacenter, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience in fast-paced, high-growth technology or infrastructure companies with aggressive scaling demands.
  • Previous experience at hyperscalers, datacenter operators, cooling OEMs such as Trane, Carrier, or Vertiv, EPC firms, or industrial fluid system providers.
  • Demonstrated success in ambiguous, high-velocity environments with aggressive timelines and large-scale requirements.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with commodity management, long-lead equipment procurement, roadmap planning, and approved vendor list processes.
  • Passion for SpaceX’s mission and enthusiasm for enabling rapid AI infrastructure buildout.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineers, thermal architects, and facility teams to develop commodity strategies, multi-year technology roadmaps, and approved vendor lists for cooling equipment, supporting systems, and consumables.
  • Anticipate cooling demand and density requirements 12–24 months ahead.
  • Own global sourcing for cooling equipment, systems, and consumables, including supplier qualification, dual- or multi-sourcing strategies, and supplier performance management.
  • Deliver more than 98% on-time delivery and compress lead times while supporting rapid cluster construction.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements covering pricing, volume, co-development, dedicated manufacturing capacity, lead-time reductions, NRE funding, shortage allocation, and flexible consumables supply.
  • Use predictive analytics, AI-driven demand forecasting, and real-time supply chain visibility tools to anticipate and mitigate supply risks.
  • Drive cost leadership through should-cost modeling, value engineering, specification optimization, and long-term pricing agreements while maintaining reliability, efficiency, and redundancy standards.
  • Lead supplier innovation in high-efficiency designs, modular cooling packages, controls integration, low-GWP refrigerants, piping and valve configurations, and next-generation CDU and pump technologies.
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships with OEMs, component suppliers, and chemical providers; conduct executive business reviews, joint development projects, and performance scorecards.
  • Standardize and automate procurement, NPI, inventory optimization, and installation support processes, including just-in-time and consignment models for consumables.
  • Establish and review weekly KPIs for cost, quality, speed, system efficiency, and resilience with leadership.
  • Champion sustainability and supply chain ethics, including responsible sourcing, supplier carbon footprint reduction, low-GWP technologies, water optimization, and circular-economy practices.
  • Monitor trends in datacenter cooling, thermal management, controls, and fluid chemistry and translate them into actionable strategies.
  • Mentor cross-functional teams on cooling supply chain practices and foster ownership, speed, technical depth, and continuous optimization.
