Global Sourcing Manager

Arxlight•Oakland, CA
•$180,000 - $230,000

About The Position

Arxlight is seeking an experienced Global Sourcing Manager to build the supplier base for its hardware products from the ground up. The role focuses primarily on electronics, including PCBAs, electronic components, batteries, thermal cameras, imaging systems, and other critical electrical hardware. The manager will identify and evaluate suppliers, negotiate commercial terms, and ensure suppliers can support products from early prototypes through production. The role has no existing sourcing playbook or approved vendor list to inherit. The Global Sourcing Manager will develop both, independently manage supplier issues from initial contact through resolution, and work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing. The core focus is establishing a strong, reliable supply base rather than performing internal engineering validation.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in technical sourcing, strategic sourcing, supplier development, commodity management, or hardware supply chain.
  • Deep experience sourcing electronics, including PCBAs, semiconductors, electronic components, batteries, sensors, cameras, and electrical assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of the electronics supply chain, including manufacturers, distributors, EMS/PCBA suppliers, allocation, lead times, lifecycle, and obsolescence.
  • Proven ability to identify, evaluate, negotiate with, and onboard new suppliers.
  • Strong commercial skills and experience with RFQs, cost breakdowns, pricing, MOQs, NCNRs, NRE, lead times, and capacity agreements.
  • Ability to work independently, move quickly, travel to suppliers, and make sourcing decisions while requirements are changing.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience sourcing thermal cameras, infrared imaging, EO/IR systems, image sensors, optics, or similar imaging hardware.
  • Strong experience with lithium-ion cells, battery packs, BMS components, and battery suppliers.
  • An existing network of semiconductor manufacturers, distributors, PCBA/EMS partners, battery suppliers, and imaging suppliers.
  • Experience managing shortages, allocation, sole-source parts, long lead times, component end-of-life, and other electronics supply challenges.
  • Experience sourcing hardware for drones, robotics, aerospace, defense, autonomous systems, or other complex hardware products.
  • Experience in a startup or fast-moving hardware company where priorities change quickly and employees are expected to figure things out and get things done.

Responsibilities

  • Establish key supplier relationships for electronic components, batteries, thermal cameras, imaging systems, and other key electrical hardware.
  • Evaluate new suppliers for technical capability, quality, capacity, cost, lead time, financial health, and ability to scale.
  • Manage sourcing from early prototypes and new product introduction through production, including RFQs, supplier selection, negotiations, and commercial terms.
  • Identify long-lead, sole-source, constrained, and end-of-life components and seek alternatives where possible.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve cost, capacity, quality, lead-time, and availability issues.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to involve suppliers early and prepare the supply base for production.
  • Build the sourcing playbook and approved vendor list.
