About The Position

The Global Manager, Project Management leads global Project Management teams for Carling and manages Project Managers running the Carling product development projects to attain high quality product launches. Manages the operational aspects of complex engineering projects from inception through implementation that have significant impact to the company. Coordinates cross-functional teams and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team and line management. Accountable for results of the team. The Global Manager, Project Management combines dual leadership + execution nature. This role involves managing and leading the Carling Project Management team across USA, Mexico, and China, and being accountable for the team's results. A significant portion of the role (40%) involves monitoring and controlling project compliance with requirements and risks, assessing project issues, developing resolutions to meet productivity and quality goals, ensuring project milestones are tracked, and proactively identifying and resolving issues and mitigating risks. Clear communication within project management teams and towards management is essential. Additionally, the role includes planning human resource requirements for new product development (30%), ensuring new product development meetings are robust and time-effective (10%), and serving as a subject matter expert on corporate processes for New Product Proposals and the 5-Phase Development program (10%).

Requirements

  • Minimum of B.S. in engineering is required so that the manager is able to understand the new product objectives & challenges, design criteria and product’s functional performance.
  • 10+ years of experience in product development environment.
  • Min. 5 years of Project Management engineering experience in automotive and commercial vehicle industry
  • Ability to plan & maintain a budget, and required team management skills to direct & lead subordinators
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and data analysis skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to relate effectively with both internal and external personnel
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Automotive OEM’s and/or Tier 1 customer interface experience required.
  • English communication skills are a must

Nice To Haves

  • PMP Certification or equivalent are an advantage.
  • Design engineering experience a plus.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.
  • Good presentation skills for internal/external customers, and good training skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage / Lead Carling Project Management team (USA, Mexico, China).
  • Accountable for results of the team.
  • Monitor and control the compliance to requirements and risk of assigned projects.
  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, goals and objectives.
  • Ensures that project milestones are identified and tracked to proactively identify and resolve issues and mitigates risks that may threaten the project delivery.
