About The Position

Drive quality for assigned suppliers, including quality plan implementation. Select suppliers through qualification processes. Own supplier results, drive improvements utilizing supplier scorecards. Own supplier audits, ensuring compliance, and driving improvement plans where needed. Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Utilizes understanding of industry trends to inform decision making process. Includes both Supplier Quality Assurance and Supplier Development. Includes supplier qualifications, action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence. SQEs have various levels of differentiation which are related to level of technical understanding of engineering drawings and ability to manage vendors. Typically a 2nd line manager with senior professional direct reports. Has ability to attract and retain talent. Often manages medium to large teams. Developing expertise within function. Growing reputation within the organization. Includes roles that are experts in their discipline, providing professional or thought leadership. Influences policy and ensures delivery within own function, linking with other functions of the organization. May lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Presents business solutions to leaders in functional area. Communicates complex messages and negotiates mainly internally with others to adopt a different point of view. Influences peers to take action and may negotiate with external partners, vendors, or customers. Has major influence on small business unit, a segment within a larger business unit, a family within a Function or a P&L business segment and has ownership/influence over budgets. The role is guided by functional policy. The role influences policy/operating guidelines about important subjects. Leads others to find creative solutions to address complex problems that may impact the organization. Has the ability to evaluate quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis. Uses multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision. Works in conjunction with Plant Quality and Suppliers in problem solving - leading cross-functional teams on major issues resolution at Supplier locations. Performs analysis (Commodity, Quality Systems, DPPM, DMR) to determine trends along with proposed actions to drive performance improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in quality, mechanical, electrical, industrial, operations or other equivalent discipline.
  • 7-10 years of Quality/Materials/Operations Experience across plants or business units.
  • Evidence of knowledge of the Quality Sciences -APQP, Problem solving, sampling, statistical analysis, root cause analysis, PDCA.
  • Some previous leadership experience in management, supervision or project/program leadership.
  • Ability to read engineering prints and drawings.
  • Proven lean experience.
  • Several years of plant experience in Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, or Procurement.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Proven experience with Hot Gas Path Turbine Components (Engineering and Manufacturing)
