Global Equity Programs Lead

Baseten•San Francisco, CA
•$230,000 - $300,000

About The Position

The Global Equity Programs Lead will own Baseten’s equity function end to end as the company expands across countries, entities, and increasingly complex transactions. The role will build the operating model, controls, and systems needed to administer equity accurately and efficiently as the company grows. The position partners closely with Legal, Tax, Payroll, Compensation, and Accounting. It owns recurring equity administration and record integrity, translates compensation and plan decisions into operational workflows, supports international and corporate-event-related equity needs, and develops reporting, employee resources, controls, and practical automation. As the function grows, the lead will also help define team structure and determine which capabilities should be handled internally or by outside providers.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of progressive equity administration or equity operations experience, ideally in a rapidly scaling private or newly public technology company.
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex equity operations, including hands-on involvement with underlying data and transactions rather than advisory or program-design experience alone.
  • Strong knowledge of stock options, RSUs, vesting and settlement events, tax withholding, employee mobility, and the operational requirements of equity plans.
  • Hands-on experience administering a leading equity platform and working with connected HRIS, payroll, accounting, and reporting systems.
  • A strong control mindset, including experience designing reconciliations, approval workflows, documentation, and audit support.
  • Ability to diagnose data issues, resolve complex exceptions, and establish repeatable processes where no established playbook exists.
  • Strong cross-functional judgment and ability to clarify ownership and drive decisions across Legal, People, Tax, Payroll, Finance, and external advisors.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain an employee’s equity accurately without giving personal tax or legal advice.
  • Strong discretion when handling compensation, ownership, transaction, and employee data.
  • Ability to manage several time-sensitive workstreams while maintaining accuracy and following issues through to resolution.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Equity Professional certification or meaningful progress toward it.
  • Experience supporting international equity programs and cross-border employee mobility.
  • Experience with significant corporate transactions affecting equity, such as acquisitions, tender offers, and financings.
  • Working knowledge of stock-based compensation accounting and the data Accounting needs for close, forecasting, audit, and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with insider trading policies and equity compliance in highly regulated environments.
  • Experience building or expanding an equity operations team.

Responsibilities

  • Build the operating model for equity administration as the company grows across countries, entities, and increasingly complex transactions.
  • Run the recurring equity calendar, including grants, vesting events, exercises, releases, terminations, and other participant transactions, with clear ownership, deadlines, and exception management.
  • Own the integrity of equity records and establish recurring reconciliations across the equity platform, HRIS, payroll, cap table, and accounting records.
  • Translate compensation and plan decisions into executable workflows, system configurations, approval paths, and employee communications.
  • Partner with Legal, Tax, Payroll, Compensation, and Accounting on the equity implications of international hiring, employee mobility, acquisitions, liquidity programs, and other corporate events.
  • Coordinate operational execution of equity refreshes, including data preparation, approval workflows, grant documentation, system uploads, and participant communications.
  • Evaluate whether proposed award structures can be administered accurately and at scale, and surface operational, tax, compliance, accounting, and employee-experience risks before launch.
  • Design a control environment that supports accurate financial reporting, efficient audits, and reconciliations.
  • Develop reporting that gives Finance and People leadership visibility into dilution, grant activity, vesting, exercises, retention trends, and future program obligations.
  • Own the equity platform and its surrounding data flows, including configuration, permissions, integrations, vendor performance, and system improvements.
  • Create employee resources that make equity easier to understand at onboarding, grant issuance, vesting, exercise, and departure.
  • Identify recurring manual work and implement practical automation without compromising review, security, or control.
  • Help define the team structure and determine which capabilities should be built internally versus supported by outside providers as the function grows.
