Glass Installer (Glazier)
About The Position
Portland Glass is hiring a Glass Installer (Glazier) to install and replace residential and/or commercial glass. The role includes measuring, cutting, handling, and installing glass and related materials; reading work orders, blueprints, and specifications; and using hand and power tools to complete quality installations. The installer diagnoses installation challenges, finds practical solutions, and completes jobs efficiently without sacrificing quality. This customer-facing position requires professional, friendly service and representation of the Portland Glass brand at every customer interaction. The associate is responsible for keeping the work area, tools, and company vehicle clean and organized and following company safety procedures and industry best practices. Portland Glass provides technicians with training and development to build technical skills and knowledge for the modern auto glass industry. The physical requirements include standing, sitting in an office space, occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds, communicating, lifting computer equipment, supplies, and materials, and using office equipment and computers. The associate may work in typical office conditions and a workshop environment, and must be able to lift and climb ladders, handle glass and related materials, and carry equipment needed for measurements and design assessments. Requirements
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand and power tools.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic construction math.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Comfort using computers, mobile devices, and other technology.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to complete a background check and drug screen in accordance with company guidelines.
- High school diploma or GED.
Nice To Haves
- Previous glass installation experience.
- Three or more years of carpentry or related trade experience may be considered.
