GIS Specialist
About The Position
As a GIS Specialist at OHM Advisors, you will support projects across engineering, planning, architecture, and water resources. Working with a collaborative GIS team, you will contribute to field data collection, GIS database development, and mapping efforts related to infrastructure and community advancement. The role offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to emerging geospatial technologies. The position requires onsite work in Tennessee; Tennessee-based candidates are strongly preferred. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems or a related field, with a focus on GIS preferred.
- Experience with Esri ArcGIS software, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and mobile field applications.
- Familiarity with GPS and GNSS data collection.
- Experience creating map products and understanding basic cartographic principles.
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and eagerness to learn.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work onsite in Tennessee.
Nice To Haves
- One or more years of GIS experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise database structures.
- Exposure to Python and/or Arcade scripting.
- Tennessee-based candidates are strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with updating and maintaining GIS databases for utility management and other infrastructure projects using ArcGIS Pro.
- Support field data collection using high-precision GNSS receivers and ArcGIS Online field applications.
- Assist in designing and developing GIS database schemas.
- Design and configure ArcGIS Field Maps, web maps, applications, and dashboards.
- Interpret, georeference, and digitize utility and construction plans.
- Use ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online to support project needs.
- Learn and apply asset management and data collection best practices.
- Participate in project meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Assist with maintaining and organizing GIS field equipment.
- Gain exposure to drone data collection, underground locating, LiDAR scanning, 3D modeling, automation, and custom tools or scripts.
- Represent the firm professionally when interacting with internal teams, clients, and the public.
