About The Position
OHM Advisors is hiring a GIS Specialist to support projects across engineering, planning, architecture, and water resources. Working with the GIS team, the specialist will contribute to field data collection, GIS database development, and mapping efforts related to infrastructure and community advancement. The role offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to emerging geospatial technologies. The position is onsite in Tennessee; Tennessee-based candidates are strongly preferred. The specialist will collaborate with internal teams and interact professionally with clients and the public.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems or a related field; a focus on GIS is preferred.
- Experience with Esri ArcGIS software, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and mobile field applications.
- Familiarity with GPS and GNSS data collection.
- Experience creating map products and understanding basic cartographic principles.
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and eagerness to learn.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work onsite in Tennessee; Tennessee-based candidates are strongly preferred.
Nice To Haves
- One or more years of GIS experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise database structures.
- Exposure to Python and/or Arcade scripting.
Responsibilities
- Assist with updating and maintaining GIS databases for utility management and other infrastructure projects using ArcGIS Pro.
- Support field data collection using high-precision GNSS receivers and ArcGIS Online field applications.
- Assist in designing and developing GIS database schemas.
- Design and configure ArcGIS Field Maps, web maps, applications, and dashboards.
- Interpret, georeference, and digitize utility and construction plans.
- Use ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online to support project needs.
- Learn and apply asset management and data collection best practices.
- Participate in project meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Assist with maintaining and organizing GIS field equipment.
- Gain exposure to drone data collection, underground locating, LiDAR scanning, 3D modeling, automation, and custom tools or scripts.
- Represent the firm professionally when interacting with internal teams, clients, and the public.
