EPR - Girls Who Code - MS

South Fayette Township School DistrictMcDonald, PA

About The Position

Girls Who Code is a national nonprofit organization leading the movement to inspire, educate and equip girls with the computing skills to pursue 21st-century opportunities. By implementing Girls Who Code as a club for the Middle School grades, we hope to offer opportunities for students to explore computer programming, outside of class, through the Girls Who Code curriculum. The club will run for 5 weeks, with a minimum of 2 hours per week, at the discretion of the club leader. The goal is to work with Middle School students to develop a safe and supportive environment where they can learn to see themselves as computer scientists, learn computational concepts, and create a community of students interested in computer programming. Students will work to design and build a CS impact project that solves real-world problems through coding. The club aligns with the district's mission by affording students the opportunity to cultivate academic excellence and build confidence as they express themselves through computer programming activities, while also developing skills to use technology safely, respectfully, and responsibly.
