About The Position

The Winlock School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our Middle School Girls Basketball program as the Head Coach. This seasonal position requires a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment that promotes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The successful candidate will inspire and motivate student-athletes while ensuring a safe and competitive atmosphere throughout the season.

Requirements

Previous coaching experience, preferably in basketball or a related sport, at the middle school or high school level.
Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with student-athletes and their families.
Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to achieve their personal and team goals.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the season).
A commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive environment for all participants.
Must pass a background check as required by the Winlock School District.
Availability to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a comprehensive practice and game plan that focuses on skill development, teamwork, and strategy.
Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring all athletes receive instruction and support to improve their basketball skills.
Plan and manage game schedules, including transportation and communication with parents and guardians.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of student-athletes, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
Promote sportsmanship, respect, and integrity among players, coaches, and parents.
Collaborate with school administration and athletic department to ensure compliance with district policies and regulations.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding team updates, expectations, and individual athlete progress.
Foster a positive team culture that encourages participation, effort, and a love for the game.
Attend all scheduled games and events, providing leadership and support during competitions.
Assist in the recruitment and development of assistant coaches and volunteers as needed.
