About The Position

The Winlock School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as an Assistant Coach for the Middle School Girls Basketball program. This seasonal position offers an exciting opportunity to work with young athletes, helping them develop their skills, teamwork, and love for the game. Requirements

• Previous coaching experience or a strong background in basketball, either as a player or coach, is preferred.
• Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals and strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with student-athletes and foster positive relationships.
• Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes while maintaining a focus on skill development and teamwork.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Must pass a background check and comply with all district policies and regulations.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season.
• A commitment to promoting the physical, emotional, and social well-being of student-athletes.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and implementing effective practice sessions that focus on skill development, teamwork, and game strategies.
• Provide instruction and guidance to student-athletes in fundamental basketball techniques, including shooting, passing, dribbling, and defense.
• Help organize and supervise team activities, including practices, games, and tournaments.
• Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
• Monitor and assess the progress of individual players and the team as a whole, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school staff regarding team expectations, schedules, and player development.
• Assist in the management of team equipment and ensure that all gear is maintained and in good condition.
• Attend all scheduled practices, games, and team meetings, contributing to a consistent and cohesive coaching presence.
• Uphold and promote the values and mission of the Winlock School District and its athletic programs.
