About The Position

Assist the Head Coach in supervising, coaching, and adhering to all rules, policies, and laws set forth by the school, school board, and KHSAA. This role involves assisting coaches in daily and long-range athletic activities, planning the athletic program, and conducting learning experiences for student athletes under the direction of head coaches. The assistant coach will help foster team spirit, provide supervision during team travel, and recommend equipment purchases. Other non-coaching duties may be assigned by the principal, athletic director, or head coach.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law.
• Successful completion of ABLE test.
• Successful completion of criminal record check.
• Current certification in first aid and CPR.
• Knowledge of fundamentals of various sports.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
• Ability to assist coaches on one or more sports.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in supervising and coaching.
• Follow all rules, policies, and laws of the school, school board, and KHSAA.
• Assist coaches in daily and long-range athletic activities.
• Assist coaches in planning the athletic program.
• Conduct learning experiences with small groups of student athletes under the direction of head coaches.
• Assist coaches in guiding participants toward a harmonious team spirit.
• Provide escort assistance and supervision to athletes during team travel.
• Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms to the head coach.
• Perform other non-coaching duties assigned by the principal, athletic director, or head coach.
