About The Position

The Gift Shop Clerk serves casino guests, completes tasks assigned by management, and helps ensure the department meets guest-service standards. The role maintains clean, orderly, and visually merchandised shop and storeroom areas; prices, displays, and replenishes merchandise; assists guests with merchandise selection and purchases; operates the point-of-sale terminal; and follows casino cash-control procedures. The clerk also supports inventory activities, completes merchandise records and transfers, monitors for theft, and maintains knowledge of merchandise locations and property events. Employees are expected to create a fun atmosphere for guests and promote mutual respect, dignity, and integrity among coworkers.

Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as policy and procedure manuals and maintenance instructions.
Ability to respond to common inquiries from employees or guests.
Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common-sense reasoning to a variety of situations.
Ability to perform the essential job duties, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.

Responsibilities

Keep the gift shop exceptionally clean and neat.
Tag merchandise correctly and place it on display or fold and store it appropriately.
Ensure merchandise is properly sized and displayed on the gift shop floor.
Organize and maintain merchandise in the storeroom.
Price merchandise accurately.
Merchandise new products and maintain visual displays according to departmental guidelines.
Replenish display shelves and racks.
Respond promptly and courteously to guest complaints and inquiries.
Maintain thorough and accurate departmental records, including comps and merchandise transfers.
Assist with monthly merchandise inventory and help maintain proper inventory control.
Operate the point-of-sale terminal for gift shop transactions.
Promote guest service and satisfaction in the department.
Assist guests with merchandise selection and purchases and redeem complimentaries.
Assist managers, supervisors, leads, and the Inventory Control team with inventory duties as needed.
Monitor the shop for theft and follow departmental guidelines in cases of theft or suspected theft.
Maintain knowledge of where gift shop merchandise is stored.
Maintain knowledge of current and upcoming property events to advise guests when possible.
Follow casino cash-control policies and procedures.
Create a fun atmosphere for casino guests.
Encourage mutual respect, dignity, and integrity among employees by setting positive examples.
