Gift Shop Clerk
About The Position
This role involves assisting gift shop patrons with their purchases, promoting and recommending specific gift items, and effectively cross-selling and up-selling merchandise. The clerk will be responsible for replenishing display shelves and racks, accurately tagging and putting away merchandise, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the retail sales floor. Excellent guest service is paramount, including responding promptly and courteously to guest complaints and inquiries. The position requires accountability for departmental records, including the completion of comps and merchandise transfers. Accurate monthly inventorying and maintaining proper inventory control are also key responsibilities. The clerk will operate a point-of-sale terminal for transactions and must possess a thorough working knowledge of retail products, merchandise storage locations, and be able to retrieve merchandise from outside storage if needed. Additionally, the clerk should maintain a working knowledge of current and upcoming property events to advise guests and adhere to established cash control policies and procedures. Professional grooming and appearance are expected, and other duties as assigned will be performed.
Requirements
- At least one year of retail experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Retail sales skills.
- Guest service skills.
- Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.

Responsibilities
- Assists gift shop patrons with purchases by promoting and recommending specific gift items.
- Effectively cross sells & up sells merchandise.
- Replenishes gift shop display shelves and racks.
- Accurately tags and puts away merchandise received.
- Helps maintain the cleanliness and organized look of the retail sales floor.
- Provides excellent guest service & responds to guest complaints and/or inquiries promptly and courteously.
- Held accountable for the thoroughness and accuracy of departmental records under his/her control, including the filling out and completion of comps and transfers of merchandise.
- Assists in all merchandise being accurately inventoried once a month and ensures that proper inventory control is maintained.
- Operates point-of-sale terminal for gift shop transactions.
- Maintains a thorough working knowledge of retail products, where gift shop merchandise is stored, and assists in retrieving merchandise from outside storage if necessary.
- Maintains a working knowledge of current and upcoming events on property in order to advise guests of same, whenever possible.
- Adheres to established cash control policies and procedures of the casino.
- Maintains professional grooming and appearance according to established grooming and appearance policy.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
