Terracon Summer Internship & Co-Op Program - Geotechnical
About The Position
Terracon offers internship and co-op opportunities for students seeking hands-on experience in consulting engineering. The program supports exploration and professional growth across geotechnical investigations, environmental solutions, construction materials testing, and facilities engineering. Opportunities are available throughout the United States. The internship program runs from May through August 2027, while co-ops run from May through December 2027; opportunities to work during the school year may also be available. Interns collaborate with experienced engineers and technicians on field and laboratory assignments, support active project work, and develop skills in sampling, testing, data analysis, and report development. They receive mentorship and participate in a nationwide internship cohort program, including opportunities to share their experience with executive leadership. Learning areas include safety practices, testing standards, proposal and technical report development, project management, quality management, and client communication.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, science, a technical field, or a business-related field.
- Interest in consulting and fieldwork.
- Demonstrated curiosity and teamwork, and alignment with Terracon’s values.
- A valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history may be required.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with experienced engineers and technicians on field and laboratory assignments.
- Support active project work and observe how technical decisions affect clients and communities.
- Build skills in sampling, testing, data analysis, and report development.
- Participate in a nationwide internship cohort program and share experience with executive leadership.
- Follow safe field and laboratory practices.
- Learn and apply ASTM, DOT, and COE testing standards.
- Develop proposals and technical reports.
- Learn project management fundamentals and quality management systems.
- Develop effective client communication and consulting skills.
