Geometry Teacher
About The Position
Detroit Community Schools is hiring a full time Geometry Teacher. Must have Michigan teacher certification and endorsement in the subject. At DCS, we believe that Education is Power. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Geometry Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mathematics and a commitment to helping students develop their geometric reasoning, analytical skills, and confidence in math. The Geometry Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, developing curriculum, and assessing student performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan for secondary education with an endorsement in the subject.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.
- Strong knowledge of geometric concepts and the ability to convey complex ideas in an understandable way.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
- Teach geometry concepts including points, lines, planes, angles, triangles, similarity, congruence, theorems, and trigonometry in a clear and concise manner.
- Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.
- Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.
- Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff
