About The Position

The STEP Academy at Baruch College, a STEM academic enrichment and college preparation program, has an opening for a Geometry Instructor for the fall semester. The Fall 2026 Program runs for 10 Saturdays from October 3 through December 12, excluding November 28. These courses are non-credit, introductory, and culminating workshop series where participants do not receive an official grade. Interview requests for eligible candidates will begin in early September. The Geometry Review course is designed for students who have already passed Algebra 1 and/or will take a geometry course at their schools this fall. It aims to review topics from the NYSED curriculum in preparation for the June 2027 regents exam.

Requirements

  • Availability for each program day from 9am – 10:25am
  • Strong background in geometry
  • Experience in a teaching capacity in the subject area
  • Prior experience with designing and implementing a geometry workshop series/curriculum
  • Have a strong classroom management style

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in a STEM or education
  • Prior tutoring or teaching experience with high school
  • Ability to engage students with creative lessons and innovative teaching style
  • Possess good interpersonal skills with adolescents and a strong understanding of their maturity levels
  • Enthusiasm for the subject with flexibility in adjusting curriculum to reflect students' abilities

Responsibilities

  • Plan, teach and prepare materials for 15-18 students
  • Evaluate student and group performance
  • Provide staff with measurable results in student learning through assessments
  • Monitor and maintain student attendance records
  • Reassess curriculum based on student needs, interest, and understanding of material
  • Other duties as assigned
