About The Position

The STEP Academy at Baruch College, a STEM academic enrichment and college preparation program, has several open instructor positions for the fall semester. The Fall 2026 Program runs for 10 Saturdays: October 3 through December 12, excluding November 28. These courses are non-credit, introductory and culminating workshop series, and participants do not receive an official grade. Interview requests for eligible candidates will start in early September.

Requirements

  • Availability for each program day from 9am – 10:25am
  • Strong background in geometry
  • Experience in a teaching capacity in the subject area
  • Prior experience with designing and implementing a geometry workshop series/curriculum
  • Have a strong classroom management style

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in a STEM or education
  • Prior tutoring or teaching experience with high school
  • Ability to engage students with creative lessons and innovative teaching style
  • Possess good interpersonal skills with adolescents and a strong understanding of their maturity levels
  • Enthusiasm for the subject with flexibility in adjusting curriculum to reflect students' abilities

Responsibilities

  • Plan, teach and prepare materials for 15-18 students
  • Evaluate student and group performance
  • Provide staff with measurable results in student learning through assessments
  • Monitor and maintain student attendance records
  • Reassess curriculum based on student needs, interest, and understanding of material
  • Other duties as assigned
