SAM’s two-year Geomatics Technician (Survey and Mapping) Apprenticeship Program provides paid training and on-the-job experience working with a surveying team. Apprentices learn to use surveying technology and equipment to collect angles and elevations for construction, mapmaking, and other purposes. In the field, they learn to take notes, sketch drawings, and read plans, and gain exposure to records research and quality control. Apprentices must complete safety and corporate compliance training throughout the program. The program offers 40 hours of work per week and leads to a Journeyman Surveyor Certification and a nationally recognized credential certified by the U.S. Department of Labor.
