SAM’s two-year Geomatics Technician apprenticeship gives participants paid training and on-the-job experience working with the surveying team. Apprentices learn to use surveying technology and equipment to collect angles and elevations for construction, mapmaking, and other purposes. In the field, they learn to take notes, sketch drawings, and read plans, and gain exposure to records research and quality control. The program includes safety and corporate compliance training and leads to a Journeyman Surveyor Certification. Apprentices who complete the program receive a nationally recognized credential certified by the U.S. Department of Labor.
