SAM’s two-year Geomatics Technician apprenticeship provides paid training and on-the-job experience working with the surveying team. Apprentices learn to use surveying technology and equipment to collect angles and elevations for construction, mapmaking, and other purposes. Field training includes taking notes, sketching drawings, and reading plans, with additional exposure to records research and quality control. Apprentices must complete safety and corporate compliance training. The program offers a Journeyman Surveyor Certification and, upon completion, a nationally recognized credential certified by the U.S. Department of Labor.
