About The Position

Stratus is hiring a Field Technician in the Raleigh area following its partnership with Stewart Engineering. As a member of a survey crew, the technician assists with field surveys—including boundary, ALTA, topographic, existing conditions, right-of-way, transmission line, transportation, and construction surveys—using current surveying equipment and technologies. The role involves active outdoor work and supporting the crew’s daily workload.

Requirements

• Pass a drug test.
• Be dependable and physically able to work outdoors and on construction sites in all weather conditions.
• Be willing and able to work overtime as required.
• Have a valid driver’s license.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Geomatics Field Supervisor and other crew members with the daily crew workload.
• Operate surveying instruments and equipment, including prisms, total stations, GPS, data collectors, and magnetic locators.
• Assist with surveys determining the locations of natural features and man-made structures on the Earth’s surface, underground, and underwater.
• Position and hold rods, targets, and tripods to measure angles, distances, and elevations.
• Ensure vehicles are supplied and ready for duty.
• Ensure the safekeeping of equipment.
• Read and interpret construction, utility, and survey maps.
