About The Position

Warwick Investment Group is seeking a South Texas Development Geologist responsible for optimizing horizontal drilling programs and field development on the company's operated assets. This role involves integrating geologic and engineering data to identify high-quality landing zones, manage well spacing, and drive continuous improvement in field performance. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in unconventional plays, strong cross-disciplinary communication skills, and the ability to execute development plans efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geoscience, or Earth Science required.
  • 5+ years of experience in oil and gas development geology.
  • At least 3 years of experience in unconventional shale plays.
  • Proficiency in geologic software (Geographix preferred).
  • Proficiency in geosteering/well planning software (ROGII’s StarSteer strongly preferred).
  • Knowledge of geosteering operations and mud log data interpretation.
  • Familiarity with seismic data interpretation.
  • Understanding of geomechanics, frac gradients, and completions-related data.
  • Familiarity with Spotfire or data visualization platforms for trend analysis and production data integration.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and operational teams.
  • Analytical thinker with attention to detail, a results-driven mindset and organized.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree with a focus in sedimentology/stratigraphy, petroleum geology or structural geology preferred.
  • Experience in South Texas (Eagle Ford/Austin Chalk) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with machine learning applications in geoscience or real-time drilling analytics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain maps of target formations, including structure, isopach, OOIP/OGIP, GOR/phase/yield, and BHP/Pgrad.
  • Integrate operated and non-operated subsurface data into interpretations, including geosteering interpretations.
  • Map uphole zones as potential geohazards or upside potential.
  • Identify optimal landing zones and lateral targets for horizontal wells by studying offset wells.
  • Collaborate with geophysics, drilling, completions, and reservoir engineers to design and position horizontal wells.
  • Work with the Operations Geologist to build pre-drill SOPs and well plans for geosteering.
  • Monitor geosteering efforts during drilling to ensure effective execution of pre-drill plans.
  • Conduct post-drill evaluations and ensure all geologic data is stored and integrated into interpretations.
  • Compile offset well data as needed.
  • Utilize petrophysical and rock mechanical properties to support completion design and frac planning.
  • Integrate production analytics and machine learning insights into geologic interpretation.
  • Assess well spacing and sequencing strategies for full-field development with engineering teams.
  • Identify refrac, re-entry, and infill drilling opportunities based on reservoir performance.
