About The Position

Under direction, designs, plans, and produces geographic information using automated Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping systems; prepares data, analysis, maps, and mapping applications for various City departments and the general public; organizes and administers the City’s GIS projects and activities, including field data collection, web-based GIS applications, and database analysis in a manner consistent with City policy; provides training in GIS software use and responds to complex user support problems; coordinates assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies; provides highly technical staff assistance to management staff in area of expertise; and performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in geographic information systems, geography, cartography, engineering, planning, computer science, information systems, or a closely related field.
• Three (3) years of recent full-time experience working in a GIS related field, including experience with a variety of geographic information system applications.
• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record to be maintained throughout employment.
