About The Position

American Modern is offering a 2027 Internship Program focused on Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This program provides interns with hands-on experience, opportunities to build professional networks, and the chance to work on meaningful projects. The company is headquartered in Amelia, Ohio, and offers a flexible hybrid work environment where interns are expected to spend 40-50% of their time in the office.

Requirements

  • Experience with ArcGIS software, SQL, Python, and Microsoft Office.
  • Analytical thinking and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Interest in data visualization and process improvement.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree at an accredited college or university with a focus in GIS.
  • Rising Junior or Senior at the time of the internship.
  • Available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for the duration of the summer internship program.
  • Able to work in a hybrid environment, including approximately 40-50% of the time in our Amelia, Ohio office.
  • Reliable transportation to commute to the office as required.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and contribute to meaningful projects.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Unable to consider candidates who require current or future sponsorship, including Optional Practical Training (OPT) or Curricular Practical Training (CPT).

  • Combine geospatial analysis, development, and documentation in a role that supports meaningful portfolio and risk work.
  • Build data, research GIS capabilities, and contribute to both platform updates and team projects.

Responsibilities

  • Create manufactured home park data using ArcGIS Pro and Python.
  • Research and develop solutions using the ArcGIS API.
  • Support ArcGIS Server updates using ArcGIS Pro and Python.
  • Contribute to QGIS development and process documentation.
  • Assist portfolio management projects using Python, SQL Developer, and Microsoft Office.
