About The Position

Under general direction of the Storey County Assessor, the incumbent is responsible for developing, planning, implementing, overseeing, and coordinating technical work, policies, strategic planning, and other duties in the administration of the county’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) systems. This position works with a high level of independence and autonomy implementing, managing, and coordinating the county’s enterprise GIS systems within the Storey County Assessor’s Office. The position provides technical leadership and guidance related to GIS functions and may be assigned lead or supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible GIS experience, entering and managing data, manipulating shapefiles, maintaining GIS databases, and producing finished GIS products.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada Class C Driver License.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in geography, GIS, cartography, land surveying, or closely related field.
  • Experience providing technical leadership, project coordination, training, or lead direction.
  • Five (5) years of experience working in a state or local government or another public sector environment.
  • Military experience applicable to the duties of this position.
