This position provides comprehensive genetic counseling and testing to patients within the Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Genetic Predisposition Clinic. The role involves interpreting clinical and laboratory findings, communicating this information to patients and providers, and researching specific disorders. The Genetic Counselor will assess psychosocial situations, offer support, and educate patients on the risks and benefits of medical procedures to ensure informed consent. They will also coordinate with laboratory providers for testing, evaluate results, and refer families to community resources when necessary. Additionally, the role includes participating in multidisciplinary clinic meetings, providing education to healthcare professionals, contributing to quality improvement projects, and developing/presenting genetics education programs. This position also serves as a mentor for new team members, including entry-level genetic counselors and Genetic Counselor I.
