About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. This role is for the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) and is an Employee, Regular, Health-21 position with scheduled weekly hours of 36, typically working nights on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • ONE of the following requirements must be met:
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree
  • At least 1 year work experience in a .6 FTE PCT I position at MUSC CHS
  • 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility
  • Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution
  • Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution
  • Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution
  • Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
