Generator Service Technician - Hauppauge, NY
About The Position
The Generator Service Technician makes service calls to customers, keeps customers and dispatchers informed about job progress, and performs mechanical and electrical repairs on power generation systems. The role includes diagnosing, repairing, adjusting, and reconditioning diesel, natural gas, and liquid propane engine-driven generator sets; performing scheduled service and troubleshooting; and taking steps to prevent or limit failures and optimize efficiency. The technician ensures scheduled service activities are completed correctly and on time, identifies potential problems proactively, maintains truck inventory, processes paperwork, and maintains housekeeping in the service truck and at customer properties.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience as a maintenance and/or service mechanic.
- Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing power generation equipment and/or experience with diesel engines.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Intermediate computer literacy.
- Valid driver's license.
