About The Position

National Oilwell Varco, L.P. is seeking a skilled Generator Mechanic to maintain company-owned and customer generator equipment. The role includes inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding components. The technician works independently to return equipment to serviceable condition while meeting safety and quality standards. The position also provides on-site troubleshooting and technical support at multiple job sites as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience servicing diesel generator sets.
• Proficiency with multimeters and some knowledge of Cummins Quickserve, Insite, and InPower.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with limited supervision.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
• Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in confined or elevated spaces.
• Willingness to travel to multiple job sites as needed.

Nice To Haves

• Technical certification or associate degree in electrical/mechanical technology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on company and customer generator sets.
• Diagnose faults using electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic tools.
• Repair or replace defective components and assemblies.
• Document service actions, test results, and parts used in work orders.
• Coordinate with parts inventory to ensure timely availability of required components.
• Provide on-site technical support and troubleshoot equipment.
• Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service efficiency.
